Vienna Central Cemetery

The Vienna Central Cemetery (Wiener Zentralfriedhof) is one of the largest cemeteries in the world by number of interred (about 3 million). When Vienna grew into a city of more than one million inhabitants, the old cemeteries of the various districts became too small and the Central Cemetery was opened in 1874.

It’s a very special place: Viennese come jogging or biking in the 2.4 square kilometres areal where you can also see animals like deer, rabbits, common hamsters and badgers. Here are some my impressions of this place during springtime.
